6 Years

Sage took this picture of us today because we don't have any of just the 2 of us!

There's an old song that goes:

"I love you more today than yesterday but not as much as tomorrow...."

My feelings exactly.

P.S. My heart still skips a beat when you walk through the door.

Why I Love Shane (Part 5)

This afternoon a certain prego lady fell asleep on the couch.  When I realized how late it was and hurried to tell Shane that I would heat up dinner (leftovers).  He told me that he didn't want to disturb my snoozing so he and Sage had already eaten dinner in her room while enjoying a round of Chutes and Ladders.

Morning at the farm

Sweetpeas and a cute peanut

Picking berries

Our preschool field trip took us to Southcoast Farms, the only organic farm in OC. We picked and ate strawberries right in the fields, picked oranges and juiced them, churned butter, smelled sweetpea flowers (and planted some) and just enjoyed the scenery.

Can't wait to have my own mini-farm someday.

At the Beach

The parrot man was at Laguna today letting people hold his birds (he has 8!). Sage was brave and gave it a whirl.

She's in love

Sage just discovered books on tape. The library carries a million of 'em.

Favorites so far:

The Magic Treehouse
Mrs. Piggle Wiggle
Homer Price
The Enormous Crocodile

As I write this she is having quiet time in her room listening to "Mrs. Piggle Wiggle." She has the books on every day, a couple hours a day. While she listens she's busy coloring, cutting and gluing to her hearts content.

Listen Up

Zee Avi is a Malaysian born singer who caught her break on YouTube. She's signed under Jack Johnson's label (Brushfire Records) so you can guess that her music is mellow. Her songs have an infectious little lilt making for fun listening.

Listen Up

Jack Johnson. Around this house he's just plain Jack. Sage asks for him pretty much every day. He is our all-time favorite, our go-to music.

There's a Jack song for every occasion:

Need a song to tell your sweetie how much you love her? Try Better Together or Angel

Sick of the media and news? Try Cookie Jar or The News

Contemplating Life? Try If I Could

Sick of Shallowness? Try Gone

All right, now that I look incredible lame...let me just say that Jack has a few random songs from his surf movie soundtracks that we love. One of our faves is a Jimmy Buffett cover.

I absolutely loved this movie. Yes the subject matter is heavy, yes it's in French...but that's exactly what I love about it.This is the kind of movie Shane would NEVER want to see but the very kind I adore. The acting is perfectly understated and the music and cinematography are wonderful.

I love a good mystery and tale of redemption...this movie is both.

P.S. It's rated PG-13 for thematic material (i.e. heavy material) and smoking...never seen that one before. No sex, no cussing.

Trouble in the 'hood

Yesterday Sage and I heard some teenagers screaming at each other and an alarm go off. Pretty soon the cops showed up--did they really need to send 3 squad cars? One of the punk teenagers ended up handcuffed. As the cop started to push her into the backseat, he paused, pulled her back out, reached his hand in and pulled out.......a pizza box. Once the pizza box was safely on top of the car, he pushed her in again, slammed the door then tossed the pizza box into the trunk.

Glad to see my tax dollars at work.

Listen Up

I've been listening to G. Love since high school and I never tire of this dude.

It's tough to sum him up in one word....rapper/R&B/blues/chill...he's just a mishmash of good stuff.

Amistad de Verdad

Some of our favorite people ever came to stay with us last week. Sage and Mason played the days away while the grownups talked (and ate) the days and nights away.

Hurry up and move back soon Paige and Bry!
