"C" is for Careless Housekeeper
Sage is learning how to wipe her own bum (how's that for an intro?)and as she was making an assisted wipe she glanced down and....
S: "Do you know what hair letter I see?"
A: (wondering what the heck she's talking about) "Nope. Which hair letter do you see?"
S: "The letter C!!"

Listen Up
As newlyweds we bought our very first iPod off of Craigslist; it came fully loaded with hundreds of amazing songs. But as soon as we hooked up the iPod to our computer it wiped out all of the original owner's music. Good thing I wrote down the names of the bands we heard. One of my favorites was Travis, a Scottish band that writes simple, catchy tunes. My favorite song is "Flowers in the Window" a valentine to a pregnant wife.

Call me Crazy....
Today Sage and I drove 180 miles round-trip to see her orthodontist, Dr. Hang. See he's not just any old orthodontist...his specialty is dentofacial orthopedics (how's that for a mouthful?). What all this means is Sage will be getting some lovely appliances installed in her little mouth very soon to ensure that her jaws grow properly. She takes after her mama and has a big old overbite so you might call this an early intervention. She was a champ today; she endured the close-up mouth photos, measuring and impression taking beautifully...not a peep from that kiddo.
Now the question remains...is it worth the long, long trek to Thousand Oaks? Yup because I don't like doctors in general but I sure love Dr. Hang and I know Sage is in good hands.

Listen Up
Strolling along in old town San Juan Capistrano recently I heard some chill music playing over at the Ramos House Cafe. I loved what I heard so I pulled out my Palm and typed in a few lyrics. I came home, googled the lyrics and found Citizen Cope. His style is hard to describe...a little bit of Jack Johnson, a dash of Ben Harper and a pinch of something new.

Camp Pendleton Tri
He did it! 1 mile swim, 25 mile bike, 6 mile run. Thankfully there were no technical difficulties this time around (his tire ripped during the Half Ironman in March). Nice job Shaner! Next up, the Malibu Triathlon in September.
Sage kept herself busy climbing, swinging (there's a playground on base!) and asking "Is Daddy coming soon?"

Why I Love Shane: Part 3
Shane's brainchild for Family Night this week: a special delivery to Sage's friends. Sage dictated a message to each friend, colored a picture and then slipped a couple coconut macaroons into each tastefully chosen bag (read: grocery bags). Then the two of them made the deliveries.
Shane's idea was teaching her service in action and she loved it! What a sweet, simple, Shane idea.

Norwegian-born Sondre Lerche (pronounced "sahn-dray ler-kay") is responsible for the soundtrack of the movie Dan In Real Life. He definitely caught my attention with his unusual voice, melancholy melodies and his lyrics that ring true, "When I wrap my arms around you, every mistake we've made crumbles...."

Sage's Very First Big Girl Book
Every night after scriptures, song and prayer we settle in for a few minutes to re-live Laura's adventures in Little House In The Big Woods. We just finished a few nights ago...hooray! One Little House book down, eight to go. We (especially Mama) are so happy that Sage enjoys reading and we hope she always will.

I'm sure you've all heard Jason Mraz before. He spins words into amazing melodies, has incredible range and he puts on a great live show. For a couple years now we've loved a bootleg song of his called "I'm Yours." His new album was just released and guess which song appears on it? Listen up here.

And Bunny Makes Four
I had many adorable names in mind for this critter...Penny Lane and Ziff to name a couple. But Shane wisely suggested that we let Sage name the bunny.
Shane: "What should we name her?"
Sage: "How 'bout Boobie?"
We settled on Buttercup.
P.S. Yes, we are eating our words, as my friend Aimee so gleefully reminded me, we who swore up and down that we would never have pets.
P.P.S. Thanks for passing along your darling bunny to us Mikelle & Jeremy!

Armed and Dangerous
OK, OK I know this kid is in the buff (almost) but I just love this picture! Shane is a stud and every Monday night we clean the house together. This week it didn't happen so while I was at the gym yesterday he and Sage cleaned. As you can see Sage has got her squirt bottle and cleaning cloth all ready to go. This kid loves hanging around in her undies and she loves to help around the house...cooking, cleaning, straightening up...you name it she does it.
