Happy (sort of) Halloween

This Halloween we had: a sick Sage, a costume that never got finished (mea culpa Sage!) and a pumpkin eaten by squirrels. Oy.

Luckily Sage felt well enough to go to our friend's Halloween party last night, she happily agreed to a last minute costume (a repeat of 2 years ago) and we replaced our pumpkin.

Halloween is pretty much over for us now except for carving that pumpkin today and the traditional english muffin pizzas tonight.

All's well that ends well.

Listen Up

Audra McDonald takes lovely show tunes and brings them to life. This song is a tender one that I sang to both my babies.

Listen Up

M.I.A.
kills me. Dare you not to get up and dance.

P.S. If you saw Eat, Pray, Love you might remember this song from when Elizabeth arrives in India.

Ear Candy

As a kid I loved deliciously scary books by authors like Roald Dahl and John Bellairs. And it seems that Sage inherited my delight in dark tales.

We've been reading Lemony Snicket's books, "A Series of Unfortunate Events." We're in the midst of book 5 (of 13) and loving every minute. It's always fun when you enjoy a book as much as your kiddo does.

Today in the car Sage quoted a bit for me from Book 3 (she's been listening to it non-stop during her quiet time):

"It was like the orphans were on a train that only stopped at stations of misery and horribleness."

That about sums up the experiences of the Baudelaire orphans, heroes of the series. Sounds miserable eh? It is...but it makes for a great time.

While zooming around on her bike.

Sage commented,

"Look at the pretty flowers! I don't have time to stop and smell them."
