Nails
If you've had your nails done one of those salons with all those little Viet women (Happy Nails anyone?) then this is funny, funny.

Date with Daddy.
Off they go...
Sage got her birthday present early this year...a trip with Shane to see Cirque du Soleil's current show, Allegria. It's a mishmash of dancers, contortionists, clowns and acrobats, beautiful music and spectacular stunts. They had a wonderful time together. Shane said Sage laughed hysterically at the clowns...wish I could have seen that. They returned home with a DVD of the show so I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot of Allegria this year.
Months back Sage and Shane somehow stumbled upon the theme song from Allegria and they've been learning it every since (it's in English, Spanish and Portuguese). Cute to hear Sage walking around singing it.
We hope this is the first of many shows with Sage. We promised that for her 8th birthday we'll take her to see Phantom in NYC. Can't wait for that!

Snowflakes
Our front window all decked out.
Sage wanted to make snowflakes today; I haven't made one in about 20 years so we sat down, did a little Googling and found some great instructions.
Simple, easy and fun.
Fold a piece of paper in half. |
Fold over one side, then the other, to make two 60 degree folds. You can do this by eye, or you can use a protractor. This is a good exercise in geometry and measuring angles. |
Cut off the edges of the paper in an arc - this makes a circle (if you were to unfold the paper). |
Cut a lot of the paper away. |
Unfold your snowflake carefully. Optional: Decorate your snowflake with glitter or glitter glue. |

Lazy days
Micah watching Sage brave the cold all alone.
We got our first real snow and cold spell starting on Friday we have been l-a-z-y ever since. Jammies all day, naps, warm food and books have been the name of the game.
We did accomplish a few important things...made snow angels, shoveled the walk and attempted a snowman...he ended up being about a foot tall. How on earth do you make a passable snowman with powder?
P.S. Around here you have to bundle up all day and night. That's what happens when you have single paned windows and no insulation...bless you 130 year-old house. Shane and I sleep in our hoodie sweatshirts and wool socks.

Boo man.
From the back he looks perfect...we love that little towhead of his.
We really like Micah around here. He makes us laugh and sometimes cry (darn eczema). Maybe it's all those tears that have made the good times with him that much sweeter.
He's made lots of progress lately (insert sigh of relief). He's been crawling for the past 2 months, he just learned how to climb stairs, will walk with us holding one hand (maybe walking in a few weeks?), and gained some weight. He loves to take laps around the coffee table...about a dozen each time, as fast as his stumpy legs will carry him. All this movement has made for a happier boy. I think being mobile distracts him from feeling miserable. He also enjoys the park and the swing and slide at long last.
Newest signs: hat (patting head), fish (swimming hand in front), pacifier (sucking noises), change diaper (pat hip), yucky (wiggle hands under chin), cracker (drop RT elbow into left palm), book (clap hands together), frog (sticking tongue out), daddy (hard to explain), sleep (put hand on side of head)
New words: "zhooz" (shoes), "ah da" (all done), "ka" (car), "kaka" (cracker), "sss-nah" (snow), "kee" (key) and "nah" (no) is another favorite.
