Bitter and Sweet

And baby makes 4

One of my favorite scriptures reads, "...they taste the bitter, that they may know to prize the good." Fitting words for the first week of Micah's life.

The bitter:
  • Getting used to nursing (two words...bad latch)
  • Whiplash from all the nodding off during night feedings (kidding...sort of)
The sweet:
  • Micah being born just a few hours before my sister had to catch a plane back to NYC
  • Holding Micah, kissing Micah, watching him sleep
  • Watching Shane and Sage hold and kiss Micah
  • Watching Grandma Mia enjoy our little man
The bittersweet:
  • Being released from my calling as Primary President...it's been a fun ride these past 3 years

Oh Alicia, I remember all too well the pains of breastfeeding in the beginning. It should get better though I have to say, the $150 ($75 a pop) was the BEST money I ever spent to a lactation consultant who came to my home (2x cause I needed it) after I had Spencer. Seriously, she saved me and I believe because of her I've been able to succesfully breastfeed all three kids.

You make a beautiful family of four and THANK YOU for your service to me and my children these last three years. I can imagine it being bittersweet to be released. Hugs!

Who was your LC? I might have to call her!

It was so fun to run into you at the library! You are amazing to be out already! Micah seems like such a sweet baby just from the few moments we spent with you! Congrats to Sage on becoming a big sister!

You were a great Primary President...but I am sure you will love sitting through Relief Society now!! Just in case you can't get a hold of Marcy's LC, I went to one at the Women's Wellness Center right next to Mission Hospital. They were really helpful and I think it only cost $30 (and maybe cheaper since I had 2 babies). 949-347-6080.

Good Luck!

Congratulations! We are so excited for your family. Way to go mom! He is beautiful!

We had a hard time with the latching on our first baby. With a blessing, prayers, and a lot of patience it finally came together but it took a good 2-3 weeks. Good luck and we hope you get more rest soon.

Good luck with the nursing! The first week with both my kids I cried every time I had to nurse! It got significantly better the second week. I only lived there for one year while you were Primary President, but I thought you did an amazing job. I'm a counselor in the primary now and I'm trying to bring in all the things I learned while working with you and Patrice. Enjoy your sweet little guy!

I tried Jennifer/Jen from Milkalicious in Aliso Viejo and all the ladies there are truly wonderful. I think it was $45 for a consult at home or their work or they do free classes/consults at their office for free. Good luck with it all and that beautiful little boy. Congrats on a new chapter in your life.

Bitter and Sweet...a perfect summary of all good things. I always think that almost all of the wonderful things in life take a ton of work, and often times tears and struggles. Please, will you still be my primary president mentor? You have taught me so much already. Love you lots! Hope the nursing gets better!!
